This morning, your private driver-guide takes care of the day’s journey. A local guide from Africa Safari Lake Natron joins you in your vehicle and accompanies you throughout the activities. You are driven to the Hominid Footprint Site (Engaresero), south of Lake Natron. During a guided walk of around two hours, explore one of the world’s best-preserved collections of fossilised hominid footprints — over 400 prints dating back approximately 5,000 to 19,000 years, offering a fascinating insight into early human movement and group life. After the visit, enjoy a picnic lunch in the surrounding Rift Valley landscape.
In the afternoon, you continue together to the Ngare Sero Waterfall for a moderate hike along the western edge of the lake. The walk leads through narrow gorges and lush slot canyons, with time to swim beneath refreshing waterfalls, before returning to camp before nightfall.
Practical tip: Wear sturdy shoes with good grip that can get wet, bring swimwear under a light long-sleeved shirt, carry drinking water, and keep your camera or phone waterproofed.
