Kick off your safari with a drive to Tarangire National Park, home to Tanzania’s largest elephant population. Discover a landscape dotted with ancient baobab trees, where herds of elephants roam freely and predators lurk in the tall grass. Your first game drive offers sightings of giraffes, lions, and countless antelope species. Enjoy a picnic lunch with panoramic views of the Tarangire River—a vital lifeline for wildlife during the dry season.

Activity Day 2

Rise early for a full-day safari in Tarangire, a quieter but equally rewarding gem of Tanzania’s northern circuit. Discover diverse landscapes—from woodlands and wetlands to open savannahs—teeming with wildlife, including lions, leopards, and large herds of buffalo. Bird enthusiasts will be thrilled with over 500 recorded species. Return to the lodge for a hot lunch, then head to nearby Kakoi Village for a fascinating visit to a traditional Maasai Boma—an unforgettable glimpse into Maasai culture. End the day with sundowners as the sun sets over the wild.

Day 3

Mountain Bike Ride & Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara is one of the most underestimated national parks in Tanzania’s northern safari circuit. Everything you’ll see here is on a different scale, at once compact (this is one of the narrowest parks in Africa) and epic (the Rift Valley escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western boundary). You’ll see plenty of baboons and elephants in the park’s thick evergreen forest, and watch for the tree-climbing lions that have become famous throughout Africa. Thanks to the proximity of lake, forest and rock walls, the birdlife will also tease out your inner birder – don’t forget your binoculars.

Activity Day 3

After breakfast, head to the vibrant village of Mto wa Mbu for a guided mountain bike ride through farms, banana plantations, and local neighborhoods—an active and immersive way to experience rural Tanzanian life. Later, continue to Lake Manyara National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions, flocks of flamingos, and lush groundwater forest. Enjoy an afternoon game drive before settling into your cozy hotel, lodge, or tented camp in Karatu.

Accommodation is in classic safari tents or rooms with pine furniture, modern art and the occasional exposed stone wall, while the property has its own restaurant, bar and swimming pool.

Activity Day 4

In the early morning, we make our way down the steep slopes into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, often called the “Garden of Eden.” If luck is on our side, we might even spot one of the rarest members of the Big 5 — the endangered black rhino. After an unforgettable morning game drive, continue your journey to the iconic Serengeti National Park. As you travel across the vast plains, the landscape comes alive with roaming giraffes, wildebeests, and perhaps a stealthy big cat. By late afternoon, arrive at your tented safari camp and unwind beneath a sky bursting with stars—your own "Out of Africa" experience begins here.

You'll feel like a part of nature during your stay at Thorn Tree Camp in the central Serengeti. Little more than the canvas of your safari tent separates you from some of the biggest concentrations of wildlife on the planet. Wildlife roams the plains, often really close to camp, but you'll be safe as you watch it all from the security of your tent or the dining area, and listen to the calls of Africa's famous wildlife.

Then begin your scenic journey through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, passing from sweeping plains into lush highlands. Continue off the beaten path toward the remote shores of Lake Eyasi, where dramatic landscapes and quiet solitude await. Arrive at your lodge in time to relax and take in the serene sunset over this lesser-visited gem of northern Tanzania.

Hadzabe Hunting Traditions & Datoga Blacksmith Culture

Step into a world untouched by time as you join the Hadzabe, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer people in Africa, on a morning bushwalk and traditional hunt. Learn about their survival skills, language of clicks, and deep connection to the land. Later, visit the nearby Datoga community—skilled blacksmiths who craft jewelry and tools using age-old techniques passed down through generations. This immersive cultural experience offers a rare and respectful glimpse into two of Tanzania’s most fascinating indigenous cultures. Return to your lodge for a relaxing final evening, reflecting on the day’s unforgettable encounters.
